The services offered by MTL include:

MTL is situated on the same campus as the Dairy Product Research Centre (DPRC) with which it is formally linked through joint management.

The pilot plant facilities at MTL are of sufficient scale to accurately simulate commercial food processing and have been assembled specifically for research and development and pre-commercial scale contract manufacture of a range of dairy products (including milk powders, ice cream, cream and yellow fat spreads and cheese and fermented dairy products), concentrated and dried food ingredients and selected formulated foods.

The MTL operating units include drying and evaporation, membrane and mechanical separation, cheese technology, mixing technology and food ingredients applications

MTL has been designed to complement the general research and development facilities of individual food processing companies by providing a wide range of specialised plant which can be organised into customised integrated processes.
